Privacy Policy

Ugyon is a neighborhood app for giving things away, swapping, and finding deals. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do. We handle personal information in line with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
What we collect
- Your account: your mobile number, your name, and your barangay and purok or street.
- What you post: listing photos, titles, descriptions, prices, pickup times, and a map location for the item.
- Your activity: claims and barter offers (including any photo of the item you offer), and the chat messages between you and the other neighbor.
- Photo location: if you allow it, we read your device location when you take a photo, to suggest a pin. You can move or clear the pin before posting.
How we use it
- To sign you in with a one-time code sent by SMS.
- To show your listings to neighbors and connect people who want to share.
- To keep the service working and to prevent abuse.
We do not sell your information, and we do not show ads.
Who can see what
- Your mobile number is used only to sign you in. Other users do not see it. Neighbors reach each other through in-app chat.
- Your name, barangay, and purok are visible on your listings and claims.
- Item location: other neighbors see an approximate area of about 50 meters. The exact pin is shown only to you and to the person whose claim you accept.
- Photos and descriptions on a listing are visible to other signed-in neighbors.
Services that help us run Ugyon
- PhilSMS delivers your sign-in code, so your mobile number is sent to them for that purpose.
- Railway hosts the app, database, and uploaded photos.
- OpenStreetMap provides the map tiles and address lookups. Your browser requests map tiles from them, and the coordinates of a chosen pin are sent to look up a street name.
On your device
Ugyon stores a sign-in token in your browser so you stay signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your account and the content you posted, and you can object to how we use your information. Tell us using the contact below and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can. You may also complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
Children
Ugyon is meant for adults. Please do not use it if you are under 18 without a parent or guardian.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and note it in the app.
